Whitney Concludes Second Round at NCAA Regional

STILLWATER, Okla. - At the end of the second day of competition, Air Force junior Tom Whitney (La Quinta, Calif.) sits tied for 22nd place at the 2009 NCAA Men's Golf South Central Regional Championship, being held at the par-72, 7,407-yard Karsten Creek Golf Course. At the conclusion of the regional competition, the top five teams and top individual not on an advancing team will move on to the championship finals, being held May 26-30 at the Inverness Club in Toledo, Ohio.
Whitney, one of 10 participants competing as an individual, fired a 78 on Friday, bringing his two-round total to 150 (+6). Meanwhile, Wichita State's Connor McHenry and Oklahoma State's Peter Uihlein took over the top spot on the individual leaderboard, tied for first place at 142 (-2).
In the team standings, second-ranked Oklahoma State continues to lead the way, with a two-round score of 585 (+9). Meanwhile, Chattanooga sits 13 strokes behind (598) for second place after two rounds of action.
The final round of the South Central Regional will begin tomorrow morning. Whitney will tee off from hole 10 at 8:30 a.m. (CT).
