Air Force Hosts Cal Poly and New Hampshire
The Air Force women's soccer team plays host to Cal Poly and New Hampshire this Friday and Sunday, Sept. 18 and 20. The Cal Poly game kicks off at 5 p.m. Friday and the New Hampshire game is at 11 a.m. Sunday. Live stats will be available for both matches.
Last Week
Air Force dropped a 1-0 match at Saint Louis on Sunday. The Billikens took the match with a score in the 86th minute.
Falcon Leaders
Freshman midfielder Stephanie Patterson leads the team with five points and three assists. Sophomore forward Kelly Bieber leads the team with two goals scored. Freshman Charity Blanton has played all 651 minutes in front of the net for the Falcons, and has 30 saves on the season to go with a 1.93 goals-allowed average.
Team Captains
Seniors Susan Finch and Kelsey Yip are team captains for the 2009 season. Both are three-year letterwinners.
Scouting The Opponents
Cal Poly enters the weekend with a 2-4 record after splitting road matches at Florida International and Florida Atlantic. Junior forward Morgan Miller leads Cal Poly with two goals and an assist for five points. Sophomore Brooke Gauvin and senior Coral Hoover have split time at goalkeeper. Gauvin is 0-3 with 2.39 GAA in 226 minutes and Hoover is 2-1 with a 1.33 GAA.
New Hampshire is 1-4-1 after losing 1-0 to Northeastern and tying Massachusetts 0-0 over the weekend. Senior forward/midfielder Morgan Keefe leads the Wildcats with a goal and assist for three points. Senior Ally Yost has a 0.93 GAA to go with 36 saves in 577 minutes in front of the net.
The Coaches
Larry Friend is in his first year as the head coach at Air Force. The 1985 USAFA grad. has 12 years of assistant coaching experience at the Academy. He is just the second women's soccer head coach at Air Force.
Alex Crozier is 204-109-34 in his 18th year as head coach at Cal Poly. Crozier is a 1984 Cal Poly grad.
Michael Jackson is 110-140-25 in his 15th year as a head coach. Jackson is a 1977 Maine-Presque Isle grad.
Opponent Connections
- New Hampshire senior defender Alex Hastings is a native of Fort Collins and attended Rocky Mountain High School.
Series History vs. Saint Louis
- Cal Poly won the first meeting vs. Air Force 3-0 in San Luis Obispo in 2003.
