Air Force Falls At BYU, 77-46

PROVO, Utah. - The Air Force women's basketball team lost to BYU, 77-46, Wednesday night at the Marriott Center. The loss dropped the Falcons to 3-13, 0-3 on the season and lifted the Cougars to 11-3, 2-0.

BYU shot 60 percent from the field and used its significant height advantage down low to score 40 points in the paint. Jazmine Foreman led the Cougars with 19 points, hitting five-of-six from three-point range. Kristen Riley added 17 points and Mindy Bonham had nine assists for BYU.

Junior guard Raimee Beck led Air Force with 13 points. Freshman forward Dymond James scored 11 points and was a perfect 5-for-5 from the field. Senior forward Kathleen Schjodt was Air Force's leading rebounder with six boards. Sophomore guard Anna Gault led the Falcons with three assists and two steals.

BYU shot a scorching 64.3 percent from the field in the opening half to jump out to a 41-22 lead. The Cougars could not miss a shot early on, making 11 of its first 13 shots.

Air Force shot 35.8 percent from the field. Despite the height disadvantage, the Falcons managed to out-rebound the Cougars 33-27.

Air Force returns to action Wed., Jan. 20 at New Mexico. Tipoff is 7 p.m.
