Air Force Downed By Hawai'i 15-6 Friday

HONOLULU, Hawai'i - The Air Force baseball team lost to Hawai'i, 15-6 Friday night at Les Murakami Stadium. The loss drops the Falcons to 5-13 and improved the `Bows to 8-9.
Air Force led 4-1 early on, but Hawai'i scored five runs in the fifth inning to take a 6-5 lead. A seven run seventh, followed by two more runs in the eighth by the `Bows, put the game away.
Hawai'i was led by Easton Torigoe, who hit a game-tying grand slam home run in the fifth. Collin Bennett also added a two-run homer in the eighth. Kalani Brackenridge also led the `Bows with three of the teams' 16 hits.
Air Force had seven hits in the game. Sophomore left fielder Blair Roberts and freshman catcher led the Falcons with each player going for two hits and a stolen base.
Hawai'i starting pitcher Sam Spangler (2-3) picked up the win, pitching five innings, allowing four runs while striking out six. Jesse Moore picked up the save with four innings of relief.
Air Force reliever Alex Baker (0-3) took the loss. Falcon starter Kincaid Koehler went 4.1 innings, allowing four runs while striking out five. Michael Ceci, Stephen Colangelo, Jack Hourin and Alex Lerda-Plog also pitched in relief.
The Falcons led early on by scoring two runs in the first and getting runs in the third and fifth. They also tacked on runs in the eighth and ninth.
Air Force and Hawai'i return to action Saturday, March 20. First pitch is slated for 6:35 p.m. HST (10:35 p.m. MST).
