Air Force Blanked By Hawai'i 4-0 Saturday

HONOLULU, Hawai'i - The Air Force baseball team lost to Hawai'i, 4-0, Saturday night in front of 3,609 fans at Les Murakami Stadium. The loss drops the Falcons to 5-14 and improved the `Bows to 9-9.
The loss overshadowed another strong pitching effort by Air Force senior right-hander Alex Truesdale (1-3), who pitched his second-consecutive complete game. Truesdale struck out a career-high 12 batters in eight innings, holding Hawai'i to four runs off eight hits.
The 12 strikeouts were the most by a Falcon since Michael Tufte fanned 12 vs. Nebraska-Omaha on March 1, 2001.
Three Hawai'i pitchers combined to hold Air Force to four hits in the game. `Bows starter Josh Slaats went 5.1 innings, allowing three hits, while striking out 10. Relievers Blair Walters and Lenny Linsky combined to throw the final three innings.
Freshman leftfielder Alex Bast had two hits to lead the Falcon offense. Sophomore Blair Roberts and freshman Matthew Roberts also had base hits for AFA.
Hawai'i was led offensively by Greg Garcia, who went 3-for-3 with a run scored. Kolten Wong also hit a two-run homer.
The `Bows scored the first run of the game in the fourth inning and added a second run in the fifth. Wong's two-run homer in the eighth extended Hawai'i's lead to 4-0.
Air Force and Hawai'i return to action Sunday, March 21. First pitch is slated for 1:05 p.m. HST (5:05 p.m. MST).
