TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - Playing its first-ever contest against an SEC team, the Air Force women's basketball team dropped an 80-45 contest to Alabama Friday evening in Foster Auditorium.
Junior Alicia Leipprandt (Jr., Ubly, Mich.) led the Falcons with 13 points, while senior captain Jamela Satterfield (Sacramento, Calif.) added eight points and a team-best nine rebounds.
The game remained close for much of the first half, with the score tied at 13-13 with 7:46 to play. However, Alabama went on a 13-0 run over a two-minute span before staking a 37-22 advantage at the break.
Leipprandt scored a pair of free throws to open the second half, but the Crimson Tide went on another run, outscoring the Falcons 16-0 over the next seven minutes to pull away.
Air Force (4-9) shot just over 27 percent for the game and was outrebounded 55-43. Alabama also had an advantage on the foul line, knocking down 17-of-25 free throw attempts, while Air Force was just 6-of-10 from the stripe. Meanwhile, the Falcons knocked down a season-high five three-pointers, all in the second half.
Meghan Perkins led the Crimson Tide (10-4) with 19 points and 10 rebounds, while Kyra Crosby added 13 points.
The Falcons return home for the final two games of their non-conference slate, beginning with a contest versus North Dakota on Thursday, Jan. 5, at 7:00 p.m.
