Five Falcons Earn Academic All-Conference Honors

USAF ACADEMY, Colo. - Five members of the 2010 Air Force volleyball team were named to the Mountain West Conference Academic All-Conference Team, the league office announced this morning (Feb. 10). Seniors Jessica Hellmann, Caroline Kurtz and Nichole Stilwell claimed their fourth consecutive selection to the academic all-conference squad.
Hellmann, Kurtz and Stilwell became three of just six Falcons to earn academic all-MWC distinction all four years, joining Delavane Diaz, Kristin Hamlett and Kim Kallabis.
Sophomore Maiya Perich earned her second selection to the academic all-conference list, while Claire Bieber claimed her first such honor.
A total of 386 student-athletes were named to the fall 2010 academic all-conference team. Fall sports include men's and women's cross country, football, women's soccer and women's volleyball. To be eligible, student-athletes must have completed at least one academic term at the member institution, while maintaining a cumulative grade-point-average of 3.0 or better and be a starter or significant contributor on their athletic team.
Air Force had 33 cadet-athletes collect academic all-conference honors during the fall, with Kurtz boasting the highest GPA at 3.90.
