Each week, GoAirForceFalcons.com will spotlight a member of the Air Force women's gymnastics team with an online feature called "Friday Focus". This week, gymnastics fans can get to know Linnaea Hance, a freshman from Naperville, Ill. This past week, Hance was named the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Gymnast of the Week.
When you were a little kid, what did you want to be when you grow up? The President. Or a spy, just like the Olsen Twins.
What is one thing that you just can't live without? Burt's Bees.
If you had $1,000,000, what would you do? Travel the world.
What is your favorite vacation spot? Wyoming.
What is the most interesting place you have traveled to? China.
What is one song that you're tired of hearing? Anything by Taylor Swift.
What is your favorite drink at Starbucks? Chocolate vivanno smoothie.
What is your ringtone? My phone is almost always on vibrate.
Who should play you in your life story? Ashton Kutcher, if he was a lady.
What is your favorite flavor of ice cream?I love all types of ice cream.
Who is your favorite TV character?Bear Grylls, except he's real.
What is your favorite song for karaoke?"Girls Just Wanna Have Fun"… hollaaa!
What is something that you are afraid?Drowning in vomit. That sounds terrifying.
What was the first CD you ever bought? I have pretty much the entire collection of NOW.
What was your first job? Teaching gymnastics. I lasted a week.
If you had a theme song, what would it be? "Till I Collapse" by Eminem. Sup.
If you could be on any TV show, what would it be? Rob Dyrdek's Fantasy Factory.
How many hours of sleep do you need (and now … how many do you get?) I usually get around six. Not bad. But sometimes on Sundays I sleep until dinner. That probably means something.
What sports teams do you follow? Don't have a fav.
What do you want to do after graduation? I'm just trying to get through freshman year at the moment.
What is your proudest achievement? Haven't decided yet.
What era would you most like to travel to? The 1980's. Legwarmers!
What is one thing about your hometown that you miss? Naper Nuts and Sweets.
What is your favorite movie of all-time? Grease.
What is a secret talent that few people know you have? I play drums.
Where is your favorite place to relax? It used to be the hammock in my backyard. Now? The resi mats at the gym.
How did you get started in gymnastics? I wanted to be more like my sister.
What challenge do you find in gymnastics that you don't find in any other sport? You have to learn to be an individual AND part of the team.
What do you like best about gymnastics? Kicking gravity's butt.
What is your favorite sport besides gymnastics? Hockey.
Do you have any pre-meet rituals?Usually I have a filet mignon the night before, but I doubt Mitch's will honor that tradition.
What was the best moment from a road trip last season? Oh boy.
What is your advice for young gymnasts?Don't give up on yourself. We all go through the frustrations of this sport, but if you really love it, keep at it. It's definitely worth the fight.
Describe your personality in two words:Sui generis.
Who are the biggest influences in your life and why?My coaches. Seriously, I would be nowhere without them.
How do you balance your athletics, academics and military duties?Just do it.
Who is your favorite non-gymnast athlete(s) at the Academy? Georgie Michalke.
What is your favorite class?So far? Military History. I learned the most.
Who is your favorite professor/AOC/etc.?My squad's AMT, TSgt Blanchetti. She's a sniper. So sick.
What is your favorite place on the Academy grounds?The gym, obvi!
What were your first thoughts of the Academy?I cried all the way there. But once I got out of the car, I knew I belonged here. Weird, I know. So thanks for forcing me to visit, Momma!
Who are your biggest fans?My sister, Madora. And of course, the rents!
What was your most memorable "welcome to college" moment?Getting sent back on the busses during the first day of Basic Training. I sat next to a girl with a pink backpack. Bad call.
