Air Force Drops Dual Meet at Eastern Michigan

YPSILANTI, Mich. - Senior Lisa Wong tied for first on the balance beam and freshman Jen Larsen was the meet runner-up on the floor exercise, but the Air Force women's gymnastics team dropped a 191.500-188.175 decision to Eastern Michigan on Saturday, Feb. 19, in Ypsilanti, Mich. The loss dropped the Falcons to 1-4 in dual meets, while EMU improved to 3-2.
Wong scored a 9.550 to tie for the top spot on the balance beam, while Larsen matched her career-best tally of 9.625 to place second on the floor exercise. Larsen, who also placed fifth on the beam (9.500) with Air Force's second-highest score, was the Falcons top finisher on the uneven bars. Larsen scored a 9.550 to place fifth on that event.
Junior Samantha Jones was the top-finishing Falcon on the vault, tallying a 9.600 to place fourth. Jones also placed within the top half of the field on the uneven bars, as she tied with freshman Linnaea Hance for sixth. Freshman Katie Hawthorne rounded out the Falcons' top six finishers, as she improved her personal score to 9.575 to place fifth on the floor exercise.
Air Force heads to Seattle, Wash., next weekend (Friday, Feb. 25) for a rematch with Mountain Pacific Sports Federation foe Seattle Pacific.
