Air Force Claims Team Title at All-Academy Championships

ALISO VIEJO, Calif. - With the second-best team overall score in Academy history (345.000), the No. 12 Air Force men's gymnastics team dominated the field to win the All-Academy Championship team title on Sunday, Feb. 20, in Aliso Viejo, Calif. The Falcons improved their season-best team score by over 10 points to easily defeat runner-up Navy (334.550) and third-place Army (331.350).

It is the Falcons' first win at the three-team service academy championship meet since 2000. The Falcons claimed at least a share of four of the six event titles en route to the win.

Senior Nash Mills earned a share of the first-place score on the still rings and parallel bars, en route to winning the all-around with a season-best total of 85.800. Mills tied with junior Devin Menefee for the top spot on the still rings, as the pair scored matching marks of 14.800. That score is a season-high for both gymnasts and a career-best matching mark for Mills. The senior also tied for first on the parallel bars, scoring a season-best 14.300 to share the top spot with freshman Colton Wulf, who recorded a new personal best on that event.

Sophomore Tory Brown collected a pair of first-place finishes for the Falcons. Brown won the vault outright with a score of 15.850 - the second-best score of his career - while also tying with Navy's Andrew Falk for first on the high bar with a career-best 14.000.

Freshman Patrick Duffy improved his career score on the pommel horse to 14.200, to pace the Falcons on that event with a third-place finish. Senior Aaron Zaiser posted the Falcons' top mark on the floor exercise, scoring a season-best total of 14.500 to tie for third with Wulf.

In addition to their share of the first-place scores on the still rings and parallel bars, Mills, Menefee and Wulf collected several additional top-five placements. Mills finished third on the vault (15.600) and tied for fourth on the high bar (13.800), while Menefee recorded a season-high score of 15.650 to finish second on the vault. Wulf, who also placed third on the high bar (career-best, 13.900), scored a personal-best 15.500 on the vault to place fifth - one of four Falcons to finish within the top five on that event.

Senior Dan Klimkowski placed fourth on the parallel bars with a season-high 13.800, while sophomore James Okamoto earned the same placement on the pommel horse with a 14.000.

Air Force is off until Friday, March 4, when it travels to Chicago, Ill., for a pair of quad meets. The Falcons open the weekend against Stanford, Illinois and host Illinois Chicago, before facing UIC, Temple and Ohio State on Sunday (March 6).
