Falcons Have Strong Showing at MPSF Championships

USAF ACADEMY, Colo. - Highlighted by top-10 finishes from sophomore Tory Brown and senior Nash Mills, the eighth-ranked Air Force men's gymnastics team scored a 344.800 - its fifth-highest score in program history - to place fifth at the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Championships on Saturday, April 2, at the Academy's Cadet West Gym.

Brown matched the Academy record on the vault with a career-best performance of 15.950, tying for seventh on the event. Brown also led the Falcons on the high bar, accounting for a score of 14.150 to place 15th.

Mills collected a pair of top-10 finishes in his final conference competition. He scored a 14.900 to place seventh on the parallel bars, while collecting the same score to tie for 10th on the still rings.

Sophomores James Okamoto and Nick Owen tied for the team lead on the pommel horse, as the pair accounted for matching marks of 13.750, while freshman Colton Wulf was the team's top finisher on the floor exercise, as he placed 14th with a score of 14.800. Wulf also finished ninth in the all-around (84.150), behind career-best marks on the vault (15.550) and parallel bars (14.300).

In addition to the Falcons' event leaders, seniors Dan Klimkowski and Aaron Zaiser tied for 17th on the floor exercise with matching scores of 14.350, while freshman Patrick Duffy earned the same placement on the pommel horse with a score of 13.600.Junior Devin Menefee also claimed a 17th-place finish, tallying a 14.400 on the still rings. Wulf's vault, which tied for 19th overall, was the second-highest score on the team in that event, while he also accounted for the same placement (both overall and in the team standings) on the parallel bars. Classmate Mac Ritchie posted the team's second-highest score of the night on the high bar, collecting a 14.000 to finish 18th.

Stanford, ranked second in the nation, defeated top-ranked Oklahoma, 362.250-360.700, to win its sixth conference title. Third-ranked California placed third with a score of 356.050, while No. 11 Nebraska scored a 346.500 to edge the Falcons (344.800) for fourth.

Oklahoma's Jake Dalton won the vault (16.650), parallel bars (15.600) and all-around (90.900), while tying for first on the floor exercise with teammate Steven Legendre (15.900). Fellow Sooner Alex Naddour won the pommel horse (15.000), while Stanford's Tim Gentry and Alex Buscaglia won the still rings (16.050) and high bar (15.600), respectively.
