The Air Force golf team wrapped up action Monday at the 43rd annual Gene Miranda Falcon Invitational. The Falcons finished the tournament in 10th place with a total score of 874 after firing a 295 in the final round on the par-72, 7,363-yard Blue Course at the Eisenhower Golf Club. Air Force's "B" team finished in 17th place with a three-round total of 900.Senior Caleb Leestma posted Air Force's best round of the day with a 71, finishing in a tie for 29th overall with a three-round total of two-over par 218. Junior Andrew Hoops was the top finisher for the Falcons, placing in a tie for 21st with an even-par total of 216 after a final round 75.
Sophomore Kyle Westmoreland (T35/220), senior Robert Belz (T47/222) and sophomore Philip Colwell (T51/223) rounded out the Falcon's "A" team, while sophomore Miguel Macias was the "B" team's best player, tying for 47th place with a total of 222.
UNLV and Colorado tied for the team lead after Monday's round and the Rebels took home the title by winning the playoff on the first hole. UNLV posted a 2-under par, while CU was at even-par. UNLV's Kevin Penner and Ball State's T.J. Carpenter tied for the individual championship with a seven-under par 209.
The Falcons are back in action Sept. 30-Oct. 1 at the William Tucker Intercollegiate Tournament hosted by the University of New Mexico.
