USAFA, Colo. - Outscored 27-4 to open the second half, the Air Force women's basketball team dropped a 66-44 decision to visiting TCU Wednesday evening in Clune Arena.
Junior Dymond James (Brambleton, Va.) led the Falcons with 14 points and nine rebounds, while classmate Alicia Leipprandt (Ubly, Mich.) added 11 points. Meanwhile, Natalie Ventress paced the Horned Frogs with 21 points.
The Falcons, playing in front of a season-high home crowd of 2,507 fans, got out to a strong start against the Horned Frogs, leading for much of the first half before going into the intermission with a 25-24 lead. However, Air Force (5-15, 0-5) fell behind in the second half as TCU put together its big run. The Falcons never got closer than 15 points in the final three minutes, as the Horned Frogs cruised to the victory.
Air Force, led by James and Michelle Ivey (So., Stone Mountain, Ga.) with nine rebounds each, had the edge on the boards, outrebounding TCU, 45-39, for the game. However, the Falcons committed 29 turnovers, leading to 30 points for the Horned Frogs, including 20 in the second half.
TCU (10-10, 3-2) also shot over 43 percent from the field in the second half, compared to just 26.1 percent for the Falcons.
The Falcons are on the road for their next two contests, beginning with a game at UNLV on Saturday, Jan. 28. The match-up with the Lady Rebels, who are receiving votes in this week's AP poll, is slated to begin at 3:00 p.m. (PT).
