Falcons Travel to Las Vegas to Take on Lady Rebels

The Air Force women's basketball team heads to Las Vegas, Nev., this weekend, Jan. 28, to take on UNLV in a 3:00 p.m. (PT) contest.

Last Season: Air Force and UNLV split their regular season meetings last year, with the Lady Rebels winning a 63-52 decision in Las Vegas on Jan. 15, while the Falcons captured a 91-87 victory at the Academy on Feb. 16.
LAST TIME OUT...
The Falcons were outscored 27-4 to begin the second half, as they dropped a 66-44 decision to TCU Wednesday evening in Clune Arena. Junior Dymond James registered 14 points and nine rebounds to lead Air Force, while classmate Alicia Leipprandt added 11 points for the Falcons.
SCOUTING THE FALCONS...
Air Force enters this weekend's contest with a 5-15 overall mark and 0-5 ledger in the Mountain West.
Junior Alicia Leipprandt is the Falcons' leading scorer on the season, averaging 13.8 points per game, while classmate Dymond James averages 12.7 points and a team-best 7.3 rebounds per contest. James also lead the Falcons in both scoring and rebounding in conference play, averaging 15.4 points and 7.8 boards per game.
SCOUTING THE LADY REBELS...
UNLV, which is receiving votes in the latest USA Today/ESPN coaches' poll, enters Saturday's game with a 16-5 overall record and 4-1 mark in Mountain West play. The Lady Rebels are coming off a 66-50 home victory over Boise State.
Kellie Thompson is the leading scorer for the Lady Rebels with 12.7 points per contest, while Lenita Sanford adds 11.6 points per game. Meanwhile, senior Jamie Smith is the leading rebounder for UNLV, averaging 8.2 boards per contest.

In the latest conference statistics, Air Force leads the Mountain West in steals (9.3) and defensive rebounds (25.8) per game and ranks third in rebounding offense (39.5).

In the latest conference statistics, UNLV ranks second in the Mountain West in scoring defense (56.3), scoring margin (+6.2), rebounding offense (42.1), rebounding margin (+6.2), offensive rebounds (16.7), defensive rebounds (25.5) and offensive rebounding percentage (.423) and ranks third in scoring offense (62.5), free throw percentage (.713), field goal percentage defense (.358) and turnover margin (+0.8).
FALCONS PACK THE HOUSE...
The Falcons had a season-high crowd of 2,509 fans on Wednesday night during their designated "Pack the House" game. "Pack the House" is a national effort in which conferences and institutions compete to build women's basketball attendance.
Air Force won the 2011 "Pack the House" Challenge for the Mountain West Conference after setting the program's Division I home attendance record in a televised game versus in-state rival Colorado State.
ANOTHER NEW LINEUP...
The Falcons' starting lineup has changed throughout the season, and Wednesday night was no different, as Air Force used its 11th different starting lineup in 20 games this season.
Eleven different players have earned at least one start for the Falcons this year, with junior Alicia Leipprandt starting all but one contest this season. Sophomore Camille Thompson has the second-highest number of starts this year with 18, while senior captain Jamela Satterfield has started 14 of 20 games.
CRASHING THE BOARDS...
Air Force grabbed 45 rebounds against TCU on Wednesday, its highest rebound total since recording a season-high 54 rebounds against USF on Dec. 3. The Falcons also outrebounded the Horned Frogs, marking just the second time in the past 11 games that Air Force has recorded more rebounds than its opponent.
Leading the way for the Falcons on the boards versus TCU were junior Dymond James and sophomore Michelle Ivey, who each collected nine rebounds. James, Air Force's leading rebounder on the year, is now averaging 7.8 rebounds per game in conference play. Meanwhile, Ivey, whose nine rebounds against the Horned Frogs were a personal-best mark, is averaging 7.0 rebounds per game in Mountain West action.

The Falcons close out the first half of their Mountain West slate on Tuesday, Jan. 31, as they visit New Mexico. The game, which will be televised nationally on The Mtn., is slated to begin at 6:00 p.m.
