SEVERAL FALCONS RANKED AMONG NATION'S TOP 25
Four Falcons are ranked among the national top 10 of their respective events, including Joey Uhle, who is ranked third in the pole vault (17'9¼"). Rachel Herald is listed sixth in the high jump (5'10½"), while Kobi Rex and Dylan Bell are listed eighth in the high jump (7'0½") and pole vault (17'5"), respectively. Four others are listed among the top 25, including Matt Dorsey (mile, 17th), Matthieu Caldwell (800-meter run, 20th), Danielle Tabb (shot put, 48'10") and Blue Kearney (long jump, 25th).
AIR FORCE LISTED IN NATIONAL RANKINGS
The men's team is ranked 71st in the USTFCCCA Preseason Rankings, which were released on Jan. 13. The women are listed 110th in their national standings. The men, listed third among Mountain West programs, have the highest ranking of the three service academies, while the women are the only service academy team to earn recognition in the first national poll of the 2014 season.
MARK YOUR CALENDARS
Air Force made one change to its schedule for the current indoor season. The Falcons' distance team will travel to Ames, Iowa, for the Iowa State Classic on Feb. 14-15, instead of the Husky Classic in Washington.
GOING HIGHER AND HIGHER
With a winning clearance of 7'0½" at the Air Force All-Comers Meet, Kobi Rex not only recorded the third-best high jump mark in Academy history, but also the third-best mark in Mountain West history. The mark, a personal improvement by a quarter-inch, also matched the program's Junior Class Record, allowing Rex to become the first high jumper since 1997 to impact the class record in that event.
WINNER, WINNER
Air Force swept both the high jump and mile titles, while claiming one additional first-place finish during the Jan. 11 meet. Kobi Rex and Rachel Herald won the men's and women's high jump, while Matt Dorsey and Annette Eichenberger won their respective races in the mile. Daniel Shellhouse rounded out the first-place finishers, as he was the first to cross the finish line in the 3000-meter run. In addition, Matthieu Caldwell (800-meter run) and Paige Shirley (pole vault) were the top collegiate finishers in their respective events.
A LITTLE HISTORY LESSON
The women's pole vault at the Air Force All-Comers Meet featured an impressive lineup that included three Olympians. Jenn Suhr, the current world record-holder and 2012 Olympic champion, recorded a new Cadet Field House record of 14'11" during her winning performance.
