
Air Force completes ITA Regional Championship play

The Air Force women's tennis team completed competition at the ITA Regional Championships on Friday in Albuquerque, N.M.
Senior Natasha Rizvi picked up the lone win in singles on the day, while the Falcons picked up two doubles win in extra match play. Rizvi defeated Coton of Northern Colorado, 6-4, 6-2 before falling in the next round to Holopainen of Montana State, 7-5, 7-6 (5).
In other singles action, Lily Forlini fell to Santos of UTEP, 6-2, 6-1 and Marcelli Magday lost to Van der Ben of New Mexico State, 7-6 (4), 6-3. Sierra Stapper was beaten by Baca of Northern Colorado, 6-1, 6-4 while Tiffany Tran was beaten by Meza of UTEP, 3-6, 6-4, 1-0. Jocelle Rudico fell to Krajcovicova, 6-3, 6-4 and Carley Hatcliff lost to Middel of Montanta State, 6-4, 6-2.
In doubles action, Chloe Forlini and Hatcliff defeated Phillipova and Brycky of Montana State, 8-3, while Magday and Tran defeated Crum and Holopainen of Montana State, 8-3.
Overall, Chloe Forlini finished the tournament with a 2-1 singles record to pace the Falcons. Rizvi finished with a 2-2 record. Lily Forlini was the only other Falcon with a singles win and finished 1-2 overall. In doubles play, Chloe Forlini and Hatcliff were 2-1 to lead the Falcons.
"Chloe Forlini and Natasha Rizvi each had a strong showing in the singles in this very tough regional tournament," head coach Kim Gidley said. "In the doubles, Chloe Forlini and Carley Hatcliff won two matches and played with great energy."
