
Air Force shoots past Arkansas-Pine Bluff, 80-47

Max Yon scored 24 points and Marek Olesinski added 12 as Air Force beat Arkansas-Pine Bluff, 80-47, Saturday afternoon in a non-conference game in Clune Arena.
The Falcons took control of the game midway through the first half. Air Force used an 11-0 run over a 7:23 span in the first half to run out to a 37-19 halftime lead. The Falcons held UAPB to just 36.8 percent shooting and out-rebounded the Lions, 19-6, in the first half. Yon had six points and Zach Moer five during the run. The 19 points by UAPB marks the third time this season Air Force has held an opponent under 20 points in the first half and third time in the last four games.
Air Force extended the lead to 20 points, 45-25, early in the second half with a 12-6 spurt and was never seriously threatened after that. The Falcons led for 38:25 of the game overall and hit 60.5 percent from the field, including a 52.4 clip from three-point range. Air Force also out-rebounded UAPB, 31-15.
Moer matched his career high with eight points off the bench, while Hayden Graham added seven. The pair combined for 15 points on six-of-six shooting. Matt Mooney added nine points and six assists without a turnover and Trevor Lyons chipped in with eight points, three rebounds and three assists.
Air Force improves to 6-3 this season and 5-0 at home. The Falcons have won six straight home games dating back to last season. The Falcons improved to 5-1 this season when shooting over 50 percent from the field and 5-0 when out-rebounding an opponent.
UAPB falls to 1-8 overall. The Lyons were led by JoVaughn Love, who had 17 points. Air Force has a break for final exams before returning to action next Saturday, Dec. 20, against UC-Davis in Clune Arena.
