Air Force women's basketball (1-9) dropped a 58-44 contest at Utah Valley (5-5) in non-conference action Thursday night at the UCCU Center. Senior Lindsey Lewis led the team with 15 points.
Rhiah Spooner-Knight led the Wolverines with 15 points.
Lewis hit 6-of-10 baskets and was a perfect 3-for-3 from the line. Senior Jimi Blagowsky added 11 points, hitting three, three-point baskets to go with a game-high six assists.
Freshman Cortney Porter, with her former Bonneville High School teammates cheering her on, scored five points and dished out three assists. Porter is a Utah native, hailing from Ogden. Freshman Dee Bennett added five points and 10 rebounds. Junior Madeleine Philpot had four points, four rebounds and a game-high four steals.
Air Force kept the game close early on trailing 27-19 at the half. Utah Valley got the lead up to 15 points before the Falcons began to chip away at the lead. Air Force was able to get to within four points midway through the second-half, trailing 42-38 with just under nine minutes to go. The Wolverines began to pull away, however, going on to win by 14.
