
Air Force Drops Conference-Opener To San Diego State

USAF ACADEMY, Colo. - Air Force women's basketball (1-11, 0-1 Mountain West) dropped a 74-65 contest to San Diego State (4-8, 1-0 MW) in its Mountain West opener on New Year's Eve Wednesday afternoon at Clune Arena. The Falcons were paced by senior captains Lindsey Lewis and Jimi Blagowsky, who scored 20 and 17 points respectively.
The Falcons shot a season-high 48 percent from the field and led by as many as five points midway through the second half. Air Force led 50-45 with 12:32 left in the second half, before San Diego State turned the tides with a 15-0 run over the next six minutes to jump ahead 60-50.
Guard McKynzie Fort led the Aztecs with 15 points. Forward Erimma Amarikwa added 14 points and a game-high eight rebounds. Guard Ahjalee Harvey scored 13 points.
Lewis scored a career-high 20 points for AFA, making 9-of-12 from the field. The senior also had six rebounds in 38 minutes of play. Blagowsky notched her first-career double-double with 17 points and a career-high 10 assists in 39 minutes of play. Blagowsky hit three three-pointers and had a game-high four steals.
Freshman Cortney Porter added 13 points, seven rebounds and four assists for the Falcons.
The Falcons also had a season-high with 19 assists.
Air Force returns to action Saturday, Jan. 3, hosting Nevada. Tipoff, at Clune Arena, is 2 pm.
