The Air Force women's basketball team fell to visiting Utah Valley, 70-60, Jan 2, 2013, in Clune Arena.
Senior Alicia Leipprandt led the Falcons' offense with 19 points, while Dymond James and Cherae Medina added 16 and 11 points, respectively.
For the Wolverines, Sammie Jensen led the way with 20 points and 13 rebounds, while Tina Doughty, who shot 6-of-8 from long range, added 20 points.
After Air Force (1-12) came back from a 10-point deficit to take a 31-29 advantage with two and a half minutes remaining in the opening half, Utah Valley (5-11) closed out the first period on a 7-0 run to go into the locker room with a five-point lead.
The Falcons were able to cut the margin to 42-39 at the 16:49 mark in the second half, but the Wolverines responded with a 21-2 run over the next eight minutes to pull away. Air Force battled back in the final eight minutes, outscoring Utah Valley 19-7, but still fell short in the 10-point loss.
Air Force held a 45-40 advantage on the boards, led by Katie Hilbig, Medina and Austyn Wilson with nine rebounds each. Both Medina and Wilson set new career-high marks with their nine rebounds.
Meanwhile, Leipprandt reached a significant milestone early in the first half, recording the 1,000th point of her career to become just the fourth player in Air Force's Division I history to reach the mark.
