
Air Force Drops Wednesday Game At Arizona

TUCSON, Ariz. - Air Force baseball dropped a 10-2 ballgame at Arizona Wednesday afternoon in front of 1,940 fans at Hi Corbett Field. The Falcons dropped to 4-10 on the season while the Wildcats improved to 10-9.
Arizona broke open a 2-2 tie ballgame with a five-run fifth inning. The Wildcats scored three more runs to put the game away.
Leadoff hitter Scott Kingery led Arizona's 14-hit attack, going 3-for-4 with two runs. Left fielder Zach Gibbons added three hits and two runs.
Air Force had 11 hits in the game. Leadoff hitter Spencer Draws led the way, going 3-for-4 with a run and RBI. Shortstop Russell Williams, third baseman Noah Pierce and designated hitter Adam Blankenship added two hits each. Second baseman Adam Groesbeck also scored a run.
Cody Moffett (1-0) picked up the win in relief. Starting pitcher Austin Schnabel pitched two scoreless innings.
Trent Monaghan (0-1) took the loss in the start for the Falcons. Monaghan went four innings, allowing four runs and striking out a career-high five batters. Steven Trojan, Brian Sicher and Cameron White closed out the game in relief. Sicher, usually the starting catcher, made his collegiate pitching debut.
The Falcons led 1-0 early with a run in the third inning. After Arizona scored two in the fourth, Air Force rallied back to tie the game in the top of the fifth. The Wildcats would go on to score eight unanswered runs however to pull away with the win.
Air Force returns to action this weekend, beginning a three-game series at Omaha this Friday, March 14.
