
Air Force Falls 7-3 at Omaha Friday

OMAHA, Neb. - Air Force baseball dropped a 7-3 ballgame at Omaha Friday afternoon at The Ballpark at Boys Town. The Falcons dropped to 4-11 on the season while the Mavericks improved to 6-8.
Air Force failed to hold a 3-0 lead, as Omaha scored seven unanswered runs for the win. The Falcons broke up a scoreless tie with three runs in the fifth. The Mavericks responded with four runs in the bottom of the inning and tacked on three more in the eighth.
Senior Cameron White (1-3) took the loss in the start for the Falcons, allowing five runs in 7.1 innings. White struck out seven. Junior Ben Yokley got the final two outs in the eighth in relief of White.
The Falcons were held to four hits by Omaha starting pitcher Tyler Fox (2-1), who struck out seven in six innings pitched. Sam Murphy retired all nine batters faced in relief to pick up the save.
Omaha had nine hits on the day. Designated hitter Brett Bass went 2-for-4 with two runs and an RBI and centerfielder Alex Schultz had two hits a run to lead UNO.
Senior first baseman Seth Kline went 2-for-4 to lead the Falcons. Catcher Brian Sicher and second baseman Adam Groesbeck added a run, hit and RBI. Centerfielder David Thomas scored a run and rightfielder Spencer Draws had an RBI for AFA.
Air Force and Omaha will now finish up the series by playing a Saturday doubleheader beginning at noon and not play any games Sunday. The change was made in anticipation of inclement weather forecast for Sunday.
