
Falcons Drop Doubleheader at Fresno State

FRESNO, Calif. - Air Force baseball dropped both games of a Mountain West doubleheader Saturday at Fresno State. The Falcons lost game one 8-1 and game two 6-1. The losses snapped Air Force's season-best six game win streak.
In game one, Fresno State (23-21, 10-13) scored three runs in the first inning and starting pitcher Tim Borst (3-2) held the Falcons to one run in 7.1 innings pitched for the win.
The Falcons (15-27, 5-15) had four hits in the game. Left fielder Tyler Jones led the way, going 2-for-4 at the plate with a double. Second baseman Noah Pierce had a base it and Air Force's lone RBI that scored right fielder Coleman Poje in the sixth inning. Catcher Travis Neubeck also had a hit for the Falcons.
Cameron White (3-7) pitched six innings in the start for the Falcons, allowing six runs, but just one earned. White, who came into the game leading the conference with 76 strikeouts, struck out two. Bo Wilson pitched the seventh and eighth innings in relief, striking out three.
Fresno State had 12 hits in the game. Right fielder Jordan Luplow went 3-for-4 with two runs and an RBI.
In game two, Fresno State rallied back with six unanswered runs in the 6-1 win. Starting pitcher Jordan Brink (3-2) held the Falcons to one run over seven innings for the win.
Air Force had five hits in game two. Neubeck and second baseman Adam Groesbeck led the Falcons with two hits each. Right fielder Spencer Draws added a hit. Noah Pierce's team-best 10 game hitting and 18 game bases reached streaks were snapped with his 0-for-4 performance in game two.
Griffin Jax (3-7) pitched seven innings for the Falcons in the start, allowing four runs while striking out four. Ben Yokley pitched the eighth inning in relief, striking out one.
Fresno State had 13 hits in the game. Luplow added three more hits and two RBIs. Center fielder Brody Russell also homered for the Bulldogs.
Air Force scored the first run of the game in the second inning to lead early. Fresno State scored two runs in the third inning to take the lead. The Bulldogs padded their lead with two runs in the sixth and eighth innings.
The series finale of the three-game set is tomorrow. First pitch is 1 p.m. PST.
