SCOUTING THE OPPONENTS
Marist enters the Air Force Invitational with a perfect 3-0 slate, after taking the BC Invitational with wins over Holy Cross (3-0), Hartford (3-0) and Boston College (3-2). Houston Baptist, which will face Prairie View A&M before heading to Colorado, is still looking for its first win of the season, after falling Northern Arizona (1-3), Tulsa (0-3) and UT-Chattanooga (2-3) at its home tournament. Weber State is an even 2-2 on the year, splitting The Hawk's Holiday Hullabaloo against Maryland Eastern Shore (3-1), South Dakota State (0-3), Fairleigh Dickinson (3-1) and Maryland Baltimore County (2-3).
SERIES HISTORY
Air Force, which has never faced Houston Baptist, holds a 2-0 record against Marist and is 1-2 all-time against Weber State. The Falcons earned a 3-2 victory in their last meeting with the Red Foxes, which occurred in Poughkeepsie during the 2007 season. Air Force's previous contest with the Wildcats occurred two years before that (2005), when Air Force suffered its first loss in the series with a 3-0 defeat in Ogden.
WE'LL BE SEEING YOU
Air Force will face Weber State twice during the non-conference season in 2014, as the two schools will also meet at the Lone Star Showdown on Friday, Sept. 19.
DOUBLE TROUBLE
After accounting for a pair of double-doubles during the Falcon Classic, Hillary Keltner brought her career total to 27 ... a total that is tied with Kristen Huitt (2000-03) for second on the program's Division I list.
DEFENSIVE DANDIES
Defensive specialists Emma Dridge and Rebecca Bates each recorded a kill during the Falcons' match with California on Aug. 31. Backed by a career-best 21 digs from Bates, the pair also combined for over half of the team's 69 digs (36). It is the second straight year that Bates has recorded a kill against a school from the Pac-12 Conference, as she notched one against eighth-ranked Stanford last year.
CLEMENT NOTCHES CAREER-HIGH KILLS
Akokwe Clement broke the 20-kill mark for the first time in her career, as she notched 23 kills against Southern Illinois-Edwardsville on Aug. 30. The junior improved her single-match kill total by five, while also set career-high marks in attacks (50), assists (6), digs (10) and points (25.0).
WHAT'S ON DECK
Air Force hits the road next weekend for the first time in 2014, as it travels to St. Louis, Mo., for the Billiken Invitational. The Falcons will face Canisius on Friday, Sept. 12, before taking on Omaha and tournament host Saint Louis on Saturday, Sept. 13.
