
Air Force Drops Home Game To New Mexico

USAF ACADEMY, Colo. - Air Force women's basketball (1-15, 0-5 Mountain West) dropped a 70-47 contest to New Mexico (7-9, 3-2 MW) in Mountain West action Wednesday night at Clune Arena. Senior Lindsey Lewis led the Falcons with 12 points.
New Mexico dominated the boards, out-rebounding Air Force 45-23. Forward Kadijah Shumpert led the Lobos with 12 points. Guard Cherise Baynon added 10 points and eight rebounds.
Lewis was 5-for-12 from the field to lead the Falcons in scoring for the sixth time in seven games. Senior Jimi Blagowsky and freshman Cortney Porter added nine points. Blagowsky had a game-high five assists. Senior Angela Johnson led AFA with seven rebounds.
The Falcons shot 29.1 percent from the field. Air Force had a strong night at the free throw line, connecting on 91.7 percent (11-of-12) of its attempts.
The Falcons kept the game close early, trailing by seven at halftime 31-24. New Mexico opened the second half with a 14-4 run to build a comfortable lead.
Air Force returns to action Saturday, Jan. 17, hosting Utah State. Tipoff, at Clune Arena, is 2 pm.
