
Air Force Drops Saturday Home Game To Utah State

USAF ACADEMY, Colo. - Air Force women's basketball (1-16, 0-6 Mountain West) dropped a 69-53 contest to Utah State (4-13, 1-4 MW) in Mountain West action Saturday afternoon at Clune Arena. Senior Jimi Blagowsky led the Falcons with 16 points.
A hot start by the Falcons was not enough, as the Aggies came back for the win. Air Force led by a many as nine points early on and held the lead for most of the first half. Utah State went on a 17-3 run to close out the first half to take a 33-25 lead at the intermission. The Aggies extended their lead by out-scoring the Falcons 36-28 in the second half.
Utah State had three players in double-figures scoring, led by guard Funda Nakkasoglu's 15 points and a team-leading eight assists. Franny Vaaulu added 13 points off the bench and Ingrida Strikas scored 12 points.
Blagowsky led all scorers in points, knocking down four three-point baskets in 36 minutes. Senior Lindsey Lewis added 11 points and seven rebounds and junior Madeleine Philpot scored 10 points to go with nine rebounds. Freshman Cortney Porter had a career-high nine assists to go with six points.
Air Force returns to action Wednesday, Jan. 21, at San Diego State. Tipoff, at Viejas Arena in San Diego, Calif., is 6 pm PT.
