Air Force completes second day at Panther Invitational

Air Force completed the second day of competition at the Panther Invitational in Miami, Fla., Saturday. The Falcons picked up two singles wins and one in doubles on the day.
Lily Forlini and Mary Meyers picked up singles wins against Western Kentucky. Forlini defeated Cynthia Melita, 2-6, 6-1, 6-4 while Meyers beat Violetta Shatalova, 6-1, 7-6 (8-6). The doubles win came at the hands of Elizabeth Barnickel, who teamed with Valentia Briceno of Florida International to beat Carlotta Orlando and Sandra Honigova of FIU, 6-0.
Play concludes Sunday beginning at 9 a.m.
"In the singles we did a better job of competing the entire match. Today the difference was two points in several matches, so we are moving in the right direction," Air Force head coach Kim Gidley said.
