Air Force Drops Season-Opener at Gonzaga

SPOKANE, Wash. - Air Force women's basketball opened the 2015-16 season with a 88-35 loss at Gonzaga Friday night at McCarthey Athletic Center. The game was the first under new head coach Chris Gobrecht for the Falcons.
Sophomore guard Cortney Porter and junior forward Myah Jackson led the Falcons in scoring. Porter scored a team-high nine points. Jackson added eight points on 4-of-5 shooting from the floor, pulling down three rebounds.
Freshman forward Darby Glaab led Air Force with four rebounds and added four points in her collegiate debut. Sophomore forward Maggie Borngesser, making her first-career start, added three rebounds. Freshman forward Cheyenne Wall, who also earned the start in her debut, scored four points to go with two rebounds.
Air Force had four freshmen make their debuts. In addition to Glaab and Wall, guard Venessannah Itugbu and forward Rileymarie Clarke made their collegiate debuts.
Gonzaga had five players reach double figures in scoring. Forward Kiara Kudron notched a double-double for the Bulldogs, with 12 points and 11 rebounds. Guard Elle Tinkle scored a game-high 13 points.
Air Force returns to action Sunday, Nov. 15, at Eastern Washington.
