Falcons Post 6-2 victory over Army West Point

USAF ACADEMY, Colo. – The Air Force boxing team collected an impressive 6-2 victory over its rivals from Army West Point this evening (Nov. 6) in the Academy's Boxing Room. The win marked the first time in six seasons that Air Force has defeated the Black Knights in the annual showdown between the two service academies.
Junior Landon Tomcho put the Falcons in the win column first, as he earned a 142-pound decision over Jordan Isham in the night's opening bout. Senior Jacob Berggren earned a split-decision victory over Mike Garrett in the 143-pound bout, while junior Liam Otto claimed a split decision over Tyler Anderson at 139 pounds.
After Army West Point pulled within one (3-2), the Falcons sent three seniors into the ring who swept the heavier weight divisions. Senior Sean Richards defeated Jordan Elliot at 190 pounds, while classmate Yohance Salimu earned a split vote over Matt Whitcomb in the heavyweight bout. Senior team captain Gytenis Borusas capped the evening with a unanimous victory over Egbezien Obiomon in the 186-pound contest.
Freshman Tony Garza suffered a split decision loss to Perry Huang in his debut at 135 pounds, while junior Johnny Wells dropped a split decision to Anders Freiberg in the 164-pound bout.
Three members of the women's club team also competed against their West Point counterparts this evening, but fell in their respective bouts. Junior Heather Parcasio dropped a split decision to Mikaila Wiitanen in a 125-pound bout, while junior Meagan Witham, a Coast Guard exchange student at the Academy this semester, lost a decision to April Martinez at 139 pounds, and fellow junior Bridget Wall's 156-pound contest with Sarah Golf was halted by the referee in the second round.
Air Force returns to action next Friday (Nov. 13), when it travels to Reno for a match-up with Nevada.
