Air Force Downed At Navy, 64-46

ANNAPOLIS, Md. - Air Force women's basketball dropped a 64-46 contest at service academy rival Navy in non-conference action Monday night at Alumni Hall. Sophomore Cortney Porter scored a game-high 16 points to lead the Falcons.
Air Force started slowly out the gates again, falling behind 20-7 after the first quarter of play. The Falcons tightened up its defense in the second quarter, at one point holding Navy (6-5) without a field goal for over six minutes. But big runs by the Midshipmen in the first half made it a 33-17 game at halftime. Navy had a 10 point run in the first quarter and an 11 point run in the second.
The third quarter saw the Falcons play the Midshipmen to a 16-16 draw in points. The Falcons scored 13 points and limited Navy to 15 in the final quarter.
Air Force played well on the boards, out-rebounding Navy 36-29. The Falcons also had its best shooting night of the season, making 41.7 percent of its shots from the field.
Taylor Dunham led the Midshipmen with 14 points . Ashanti Kennedy added 13.
Porter led the Falcons in scoring for the second-straight game. The guard was 7-of-12 from the field and also led the team with four assists and four steals. Porter has 35 points for AFA in her last two games.
Senior Taylor Parker also played well, scoring eight points and pulling down a game-high seven rebounds. The forward also led the Falcons with two blocked shots. Junior Sarah Falvey chipped in with three assists. Sarah Fotsch, Myah Jackson and Venessannah had five rebounds each.
Air Force returns to action Saturday, Jan. 2, opening Mountain West play at San José State.
