Falcons Falls to Grand Canyon at Air Force Classic

USAF ACADEMY, Colo. - Air Force women's basketball dropped a 73-39 contest to Grand Canyon in day two action of the 2015 Air Force Classic Saturday afternoon at Clune Arena. Sophomore Cortney Porter paced the Falcons with 11 points.
Air Force started the game hot, taking an early 18-15 lead after the first quarter of play. Grand Canyon (3-5) rallied, however, scoring 24 points in the second half to go up 39-29 at the half. The Falcons went ice cold from the field in the second half, as the Antelopes pulled away.
Jessica Gajewski scored 27 points to lead Grand Canyon, hitting seven three-point baskets. Courtney Hayes added 14 points and Cheyenne Hendrington scored 13.
Porter led a pair of Falcons in double-figures scoring. The sophomore added a season-high five steals to go with a team-leading three assists. Junior guard Sydney Graham scored 10 points, connecting on a pair of three-point baskets. Junior Sarah Fotsch added seven points and three rebounds.
In the first game of the day Abilene Christian (6-2) defeated Eastern Michigan (4-2) by the score of 83-59.
Following the tournament, the all-tournament team and most valuable player were announced. Sierra Allen of Abilene Christian, Chanise Baldwin of Eastern Michigan, Courtney Hayes and Cheyenne Hendrignton of Grand Canyon and Alexis Mason of Abilene Christian earned all-tournament honors. Mason earned Air Force Classic MVP.
Air Force returns to action Saturday, Dec. 12, at Southern Utah.
