
Air Force Drops Monday Game at Savannah State

SAVANNAH, Ga. - Air Force baseball (0-4) dropped a 6-1 ballgame at Savannah State (3-1) Monday afternoon at Tiger Field. Senior David Thomas led the Falcons with three hits.
Savannah State scored four runs in the third inning and added runs in the fifth and seventh innings. Air Force plated its run in the third inning.
The Tigers had 12 hits in the game. First baseman Tre Sikes went 2-for-2 with a home run and three RBIs to lead Savannah State. Austin Robinson (1-0) allowed one run off six hits in six innings pitched in the start.
Air Force had seven hits in the game. Thomas went 3-for-4 with a double. Sophomore Adam Groesbeck and freshman Travis Wilkie hit doubles for the Falcons. Wilkie scored the Falcons' lone run on a sacrifice fly by junior Spencer Draws.
Junior lefthander Trent Monaghan (1-0) struck out five in six innings pitched in the start for AFA. Freshmen Tucker Jacobs, Michael Rieker and sophomore Nathan Stanford combined for two scoreless innings of relief.
Air Force returns to action Friday, Feb. 20, opening Mountain West play hosting New Mexico for a three-game set.
