
Women's tennis hosts Seattle, Montana State

This Week: Air Force hosts Seattle and Montana State on Friday, Feb. 27. The Falcons play Seattle at Noon and Montana State at 8 p.m. on the Indoor Tennis Courts.
Last Week: Air Force split a pair of matches last week. The Falcons lost at Florida State, 6-1, on Feb. 21 and defeated Florida A&M, 7-0, on Feb. 22.
at Florida State: Florida State, ranked 34th nationally, defeated Air Force, 6-1, Saturday in a non-conference women's tennis match in Tallahassee, Fla. Florida State swept the doubles matches to take the doubles point and won five of six singles matches to post the victory. Air Force's lone singles match victory came from sophomore Chloe Forlini at No. 3, defeating Yukako Noi, 7-5, 1-6, 1-0 (10-8). The loss drops the Falcons to 8-3 on the season.
vs. FAMU: Air Force defeated Florida A&M, 7-0, Sunday afternoon in a non-conference women's tennis match in Tallahassee, Fla. The victory improves the Falcons to 9-3 overall this season and 1-1 on the team's Florida road swing. The Falcons opened the match by winning two of three matches to take the doubles point. Tracy Landram and Natasha Rizvi were 6-4 winners at No. 1 while Chloe Forlini and Carley Hatcliff won 6-1 at No. 3. Air Force swept the singles matches. Chloe Forlini picked up the first win at No. 3 with a 6-2, 6-1 win over Shantel Blackwood. Twin sister Lili followed with a 6-3, 6-3 win over Amie Robinson at No. 5. Mary Meyers defeated Symone Taunsend, 6-4, 6-1, at No. 2 singles and Rizvi clinched the match with a 6-4, 6-4 win at No. 1 over Alexis Dean. Jocelle Rudico defeated Elysia Daiz, 4-6, 6-2, 6-1 at No. 6 singles and Landram defeated Dominique Henry, 6-4, 6-7 (5), 10-3 at No. 4 to round out the victory for Air Force.
Head Coach Kim Gidley: Kim Gidley is in her 17th season as head coach of the women's tennis team at the Air Force Academy in 2014-15. The first civilian head coach in the 37-year history of the program, Gidley became the winningest coach in the history of the program in 2003 with her 76th victory. She recorded her 100th career victory during the 2005-06 season against South Dakota State and her 200th against Seattle University last season. She has a 220-217 career record. Gidley led the Falcons to a 17-9 record last season, the first time since moving to Division I in 1996 that the team has had five straight winning seasons. Gidley belongs to several professional tennis organizations, including the United States Professional Tennis Association. She has been honored twice by the USPTA as the Intermountain College Coach of the Year, most recently in March 2008. Among her other awards, she received the USTA/ITA National Community Outreach Award for 2009 as well as USAFA's Instructor of the Semester for lifetime sports.
