USAF ACADEMY, Colo. - After helping the eighth-ranked Air Force men's gymnastics team to its fifth straight All-Academy title and claiming the meet's annual Iron Cross Award, senior Josh Ramos was named the Air Force co-Athlete of the Week.
Ramos, a native of Broken Arrow, Okla., claimed third-place honors on the vault (14.650) and parallel bars (14.200), while tying for fourth on the floor exercise (14.650). His career-high mark on the vault is the 11th-highest score in Academy history.
As a team, the Falcons recorded a season-best 427.750 to defeat 11th-ranked Army (413.000) and 12th-ranked Navy (410.200) at the annual service academy meet, which was held in Houston, Texas, on Saturday, Feb. 7.
Ramos shared the department's weekly honor with Josh Martinez of the Falcons' wrestling team, which won their All-Academy Championship meet this weekend, as well.
Air Force is off from team competition until March 1, when it travels to Illinois-Chicago, although select individuals will compete at the Winter Cup Challenge over the Feb. 19-21 weekend in Las Vegas.
