USAF ACADEMY, Colo. - Air Force women's basketball head coach Chris Gobrecht has completed her coaching staff with the addition of four new assistant coaches for the 2015-16 season, announced today. Gobrecht welcomes Stacy McIntyre, Erin Mills, Clare Fitzpatrick and Janean Jubic to her staff.
McIntyre and Fitzpatrick were part of Gobrecht's previous staff at Yale, while Mills comes to the Academy from Cincinnati and Jubic from CSU-Pueblo.
"I believe this is as talented a staff as any in the country," Gobrecht said. "I'm really excited that we have an outstanding group of coaches that's going to work hard to build our women's basketball program for the Air Force Academy. Our players will grow to love this group of coaches as they get to know and work with each other."
McIntyre, a veteran with 11 seasons of collegiate coaching experience, comes to the Academy after one season at Yale. McIntyre was also a part of Gobrecht's staff at the University of Southern California, where she was an assistant for seven seasons. McIntyre also has ties to the Mountain West as she spent three seasons as an assistant coach at Nevada. A standout player at Kentucky, McIntyre finished her career as the ninth-leading scorer in Wildcat basketball history, scoring 1,215 points. She led the Wildcats to the NCAA tournament in 1991.
"Stacy is a coach who I've worked with for a long time and is a true professional," Gobrecht said. "She's an excellent recruiter and will be a steady influence on our team with her excellent basketball knowledge, especially working with our guards. She was a great player herself and has a great feel for the game."
Mills comes to the Academy from Cincinnati, where she was the women's basketball director of operations. Prior to her season at Cincinnati, Mills spent five seasons at Army West Point as an assistant women's basketball coach and associate recruiting coordinator.
"Erin is going to be very important for us with her past experience with service academy basketball," Gobrecht said. "She has a reputation as an extremely effective recruiter and had a great deal to do with the success of the women's basketball program at Army West Point. In addition, she is an excellent coach in all facets of the game and we're fortunate to have her join our staff."
Fitzpatrick, a 2013 graduate of Cornell, spent two years at Yale as an assistant coach. At Cornell, Fitzpatrick was a three-time All-Ivy selection. She was named to the Ivy League All-Rookie team in 2010 and followed that with back-to-back Ivy League honorable mention selections in 2011 and 2012. As a senior, she was also named to the College Sports Madness All-Ivy First Team.
"Clare is one of the great, young, up-and-coming talents in our profession," Gobrecht said. "She is very creative and has demonstrated skills to utilize the latest in technology and social media to help us in that facet of our recruiting efforts. She did a great job with our post players at Yale and we expect her to do the same here."
Jubic comes to the Academy after three seasons as an assistant coach at CSU-Pueblo. At CSU-Pueblo, Jubic helped guide the ThunderWolves to back-to-back NCAA Division II Tournament appearances in 2013-14 and 2014-15. Jubic also has ties to Colorado Springs, being a 2010 graduate and four-year basketball letterwinner at the University of Colorado-Colorado Springs. She also coached two seasons at UCCS.
"I am happy to welcome Janean on board because of her understanding and background of being from Colorado and specifically her knowledge of the Colorado Springs community," Gobrecht said. "She's bright, enthusiastic and high-energy and we're excited to have her join our staff."
In addition to the four new assistant coaches, 1st. Lt. Derek Brooks rounds out the coaching staff. Brooks, a 2011 USAFA graduate, returns for his second season as the military assistant coach.
