
Air Force Concludes Regular Season with Twilight Open

USAF ACADEMY, Colo. - Sophomore Sydney Rohlwing recorded the eighth-fastest 100-meter hurdles time in program history this afternoon (May 1), as the Air Force track and field team wrapped up the regular season at the Air Force Twilight Open. The Falcons accounted for 16 first-place finishes under cold, rainy conditions at the Cadet Outdoor Track and Field Complex.
With a career-best time of 14.82, Rohlwing debuted in eighth on the program's all-time list. The sophomore is now featured among the top 10 of both hurdle events.
Air Force swept the men's and women's titles in five events during its only home meet of the year.
Freshman Robbie Anderson (22.61) and senior Morgan Malone (25.64) finished first in their respective races of the 200-meter dash, while Anderson also finished as the top collegiate sprinter in the 100-meter dash (career-best 11.01). Seniors Zach Perkins (1:53.07) and Rebecca Esselstein (2:16.84) finished first in their 800-meter events, while junior Daniel Shellhouse (9:05.05) and sophomore Lindy Long (10:49.05) were the top finishers in the 3000-meter run. Juniors Dylan Bell (season-best 17'5½") and Riley Vann (12'4½") won the pole vault, while freshmen Donny Crabill (197'11") and Ryan Vicek (117'0") completed the sweep of the javelin titles.
The Falcons accounted for six additional event titles at the Twilight Open. Junior Naomi Alston (400-meter dash, season debut of 58.45), sophomore Matt Dorsey (1500-meter run, 3:56.58) and junior Jordan McCool (400-meter hurdles, 54.05) claimed titles on the track, while senior Blue Kearney (long jump, debut of 24'3") and sophomore Cydnee Reese (discus throw, 161'1") picked up individual titles from the field.
Sophomore Ashley Morgan improved her distance in the hammer throw by nearly 20 feet to finish as the top collegiate (second overall) in that event, while freshman Jamiel Trimble was the top collegiate finisher in the 110-meter hurdles (second overall) behind a career-best time of 14.25. Trimble also ran on the 4x100-meter relay team of sophomore Chandler Myers, classmate Zach Johnson and senior Jake Spuller that clocked a time-trial of 41.18.
The Falcons return to action next week, when they head to San Diego, Calif., for the 2015 Mountain West Outdoor Track and Field Championships. The four-day meet, which begins on Wednesday, May 13, will be held at the SDSU Sports Deck.
