
Air Force With Road Win at Fairleigh Dickinson

HACKENSACK, N.J. - A strong second-half effort lifted Air Force women's basketball to a 56-48 win at Fairleigh Dickinson Saturday afternoon at The Stratis Arena. The Falcons (1-4) get their first win of the season, aided by three players in double-figures.
Freshman forward Kassady Huffman scored 12 of her team- and career-high 15 points in the second half to lift the Falcons. Huffman, a Colorado Springs native, also blocked five shots, tying the Div. I era school record. Air Force had nine blocked shots as a team.
Junior Dee Bennett recorded a double-double with 13 points and a career-high 16 rebounds. It was Bennett's second-career double-double. Junior Cortney Porter scored 12 points on 5-of-6 shooting from the field. Porter added two steals.
Air Force rallied back from a 26-21 halftime deficit. The Falcons out-scored FDU (2-3) 35-22 in the second-half. Air Force took control of the game in the third quarter by out-scoring the Knights 17-9.
The lead for Air Force came on a three-point basket by freshman Kailin Davis with 4:39 to play in the third quarter, making it a 32-29 game. The Falcons led the rest of the way. Davis finished with eight points. Freshman guard Mariah Forde also scored eight points.
The Falcons out-rebounded the Knights 38-31 and out-scored FDU 18-7 in second-chance opportunities.
"It was a good win for us," head coach Chris Gobrecht said. "What was nice was, that everyone did what they were good at. We worked together to find the best shot and things started clicking for us in the second half. We all have to believe we can get it done and we did."
Air Force returns to action Tuesday, Nov. 29, hosting Navy. Tip-off, at Clune Arena, is at 6 pm MT.
