USAF ACADEMY, Colo. – Junior Tim Wang will represent the 11th-ranked Air Force men's gymnastics team this week at the prestigious Winter Cup Challenge in Las Vegas. The two-day meet, which will determine the U.S. Men's Senior National Team, begins with preliminary sessions on Thursday, Feb. 18.
The top 42 gymnasts, as determined by the Men's Program Committee Points Ranking System, will advance to the finals on Saturday, Feb. 20, as well as the top three gymnasts on each apparatus. The all-around and event champions will be decided by a combined two-day score.
Wang, who is currently ranked fourth nationally on the pommel horse with a three-score average of 15.200, will be making his second appearance at the Winter Cup Challenge. In 2014, the then-freshman became one of the first two Academy gymnasts to advance to the event finals, as he and then-junior Nick Gaudlip both qualified for the second day that year. Wang, who claimed a pair of top-10 finishes during the preliminary round, finished 16th in the all-around with a two-day total of 162.950.
The Riverside, Calif., native will compete in Thursday's first session, which is slated to begin at 1:00 p.m. (PT), inside the Cashman Convention Center.
