Falcons travel to Denver's Faceoff Classic

Air Force (1-2 overall, 0-0 SoCon) travels up I-25 for the annual Faceoff Classic at the University of Denver, Feb. 27-28. The Falcons will face Dartmouth (0-1) on Saturday, Feb. 27 and Sacred Heart (1-0) on Sunday, Feb. 28. Both games will start at 11 a.m. MT each day.

Series vs. Dartmouth

Air Force and Dartmouth will be meeting for the fourth time. The Falcons hold a 2-1 lead in the series that began in 1982. The Falcons and Big Green have not played since 2006 when the Falcons won 13-8. Air Force also beat Dartmouth, 18-9, in 1997.

Scouting Dartmouth

Dartmouth is 0-1 overall this season after opening the season with a 10-8 loss at Sacred Heart last week. Dartmouth led 6-5 at the end of the third, but Sacred Heart outscored the Big Green, 5-2, in the third. Wiley Osbourne, Will Randell and Cameron Lee are tied for the team lead with three points. Lee leads the team with two goals. Blair Friedensohn made 13 saves, while allowing 10 goals last week against Sacred Heart.

Series vs. Sacred Heart

Air Force and Sacred Heart will meet for the fourth time. The Falcons hold a 2-1 lead in the series that began in 2004. The last time the Falcons and Pioneers played was in 2009, a 15-5 Falcon victory.

Scouting Sacred Heart

Sacred Heart is 2-1 overall this season. The Pioneers opened the season with a 12-8 win over Lafayette, but then fell to No. 19 Stony Brook, 17-8. Last week, the Pioneers defeated Dartmouth, 10-8. Dartmouth led 6-5 at the end of the third, but Sacred Heart outscored the Big Green, 5-2, in the third. Senior Alex Dodge leads the team with eight points (5-3-8). Senior A.J. Boyd had started all three goals in goal and has a .667 saves percentage, allowing 26 goals and making 17 saves.
