Brown's hat trick lifts Falcons to 11-10 win

PITTSBURGH, Pa. -- Senior Danny Brown's second career hat trick included the game-winning goal as Air Force defeated Robert Morris, 11-10, in a non-conference college lacrosse game, Saturday, March 5, in Pittsburgh, Pa. Air Force extended its winning streak to four games and improved to 4-2 overall this season.
Trailing 1-0, Brown's first of the game tied the game at 1-1 early in the first quarter. RMU's Luke Laszkiewicz scored his second of the game for a 2-1 lead at 10:48 of the first.
The Falcons then scored six unanswered goals. Grant Gould tied the game at 2-2 and then Brown's second of the contest gave the Falcons a 3-2 lead. Goals by Christopher Allen and Chris Walsch gave the Falcons a 5-2 lead at the end of the first. Josh Radjenovich and Nick Hruby scored early in the second quarter for a 7-2 Falcon lead. After a Colonial goal, Cameron Carter scored and the Falcons had an 8-3 lead at the half.
Carter's second of the game gave the Falcons a 9-3 lead early in third, but the Colonials (1-4 overall this season) answered with the next three goals. Laszkiewicz scored two and Adrian Torok-Orban scored one to cut the Falcon lead to 9-6 at the end of three quarters.
Hruby's second of the game came at 12:32 of the fourth quarter, but the Colonials scored the next four goals to tie game late in the fourth. Torok-Orban scored at 11:04 and then Laszkiewicz scored his fifth, sixth and seventh goals of the game. His final goal came at 3:22 to tie the game at 10-10. With 2:13 left in the game, Brown completed the hat trick to give the Falcons the 11-10 win.
Air Force outshot Robert Morris, 33-29, in the game. AF had a 12-2 shot advantage in the first quarter while RMU had a 14-3 advantage in the fourth. Air Force was 0-for-2 in man-up situations, while RMU was 2-for-3. The Falcons won 21 of the 27 faceoffs in the game. Senior goalie Doug Gouchoe made six saves.
The Falcons return home for their inaugural Southern Conference game on Saturday, March 12, at noon at Falcon Stadium.
