Air Force-Nevada Baseball Game Suspended After Eight Innings

USAF ACADEMY, Colo. - Air Force baseball's game with Nevada was suspended after eight innings of play due to Nevada's travel plans Sunday afternoon at Falcon Field.. The game will be completed during Air Force's series at Nevada, scheduled April 22-24.
Nevada leads 12-5.
Through eight innings of play, Air Force had 15 hits, five for extra bases, including two home runs. Freshman designated hitter Nic Ready and sophomore catcher Travis Wilkie have three hits each. Sophomore Tyler Zabojnik and junior Shaun Mize hit home runs for AFA.
Nevada had 13 hits so far, including home runs by Bryce Greager, Jordan Pearce and Justin Hazard.
Air Force used seven pitchers in the game. Starting pitcher Trent Monaghan worked four innings, allowing four runs. Monaghan struck out three. Tucker Jacobs, Austin McDaniel, Matt Hargreaves, Sam Rexroad, Tyter Mortenson and Nathan Stanford followed in relief.
Nevada starting pitcher Trenton Brooks worked five innings. Brooks allowed five runs and 11 hits, while striking out four.
The Falcons struck first with a solo home run by Zabojnik, the first of his career, to go up 1-0 in the second inning. Nevada tied the game with a run in the third. The Wolf Pack plated three runs in the fourth and fifth innings to go up 7-3.
Mize hit a two-run home run in the sixth to pull Air Force to within two at 7-5. Nevada then scored two in the seventh and three in the eighth to make it a 12-5 game. After the Falcons batted in the eighth, the game was suspended so Nevada could make their flight back to Reno.
Air Force returns to action Tuesday, beginning a two-game series with Omaha.
