WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – Five members of the Air Force men's gymnastics team were named All-America Scholar-Athletes by the College Gymnastics Association, the CGA Committee announced today (July 6). The Falcons accounted for two first-team and three second-team honorees – the most in a single season since 2012.
Senior Denis Aurelius, the national runner-up on the still rings at the 2016 NCAA Championships, and freshman Jake Stanley, a NCAA finalist on the parallel bars, received first-team status, while junior Chase Cannon, who finished 10th on the high bar at the NCAA Championships this past April, and freshmen Lukas Texeira and Eric Klein were named to the second team. In all, 81 gymnasts earned first-team All-American Scholar-Athlete honors for maintaining a GPA of at least 3.50, while an additional 53 gymnasts with GPAs of 3.00-3.49 claimed second-team status.
In addition, the team was one of five programs to earn Honorable Mention honors for overall GPA.
