Falcon Focus: Amy Svoboda Memorial Classic

A former Air Force volleyball player who gave her life for her country as one of the first female fighter pilots will once again be honored at the Amy Svoboda Memorial Classic that begins tonight (Aug. 26) at the Academy’s Clune Arena.
Svoboda was a 1989 graduate of the Academy and a four-year letterwinner on the volleyball team who was killed during an A-10 training accident in 1997. Svoboda, who earned MVP honors during her senior year, was one of the first 14 female fighter pilots in the Air Force and one of the first six to fly the A-10.
Her life was one of pioneering service, unwavering courage and a desire to strive for excellence, so the Air Force volleyball team is proud to host this tournament in her honor.
