
Falcons Wrap Up Action at Adams State Qualifier

ALAMOSA, Colo. -- Eight first-place finishes and one improvement to the Academy's all-time record book highlighted the Air Force track and field team's day of competition at the Adams State Qualifier on Saturday, Feb. 11.
Freshman Megan Irvine continued to climb up the Academy record books, as she posted the fourth-fastest 400-meter time in program history (56.67) to win that event and lead the Falcons to a one-two finish (freshman Kelsey Owens, second in 59.13).
The 400-meter dash was one of six events that saw Air Force claim multiple top-three finishes and one of four one-two sweeps. Freshman Swathi Samuel and senior Alexa Chacon finished first (2:23.53) and second (2:24.46), respectively, in the 800-meter run, while sophomore David Collins (8.32) and junior Calvin Berstler (8.43) went one-two in the 60-meter hurdles. The Falcons picked up two of the top-three finishes in both the men's and women's weight throw events. Junior Brooks Hardy won the men's throw with a distance of 54'11½" (freshman Victor Osinloye, second at 52'10¾"), while senior Cydnee Reese finished won the women's event with a throw of 52'4¾" (freshman Payton Myers, third at 41'8"). The Falcons also accounted for multiple top-three finishes in the 200-meter dash, as freshman Brandon Saunders and junior Robbie Anderson finished second (22.02) and third (22.11), respectively.
Air Force swept the event titles in the shot put, as freshman Ashleigh Lehotsky won the women's event (41'9¼") and sophomore Logan Feasline won the men's title with a throw of 50'5½".
The women accounted for three additional runner-up finishes, as well as a pair of top-three marks. Sophomore Kaliyah Gorman placed second in the 200-meter dash (26.28), while freshmen Lucy Zimmerman and Heidi Borgerding earned the same placements in the triple jump (35'3¾") and high jump (5'6"), respectively. Fellow freshman Ashley Cameron collected a pair of third-place finishes, as she ran an 8.04 in the 60-meter dash and a 9.22 in the 60-meter hurdles.
On the men's side, senior Jacob Romitti placed second in the 400-meter dash (51.83), while freshman Anthony Davis earned the same finish triple jump (45'1"). Junior Trent Holmes finished third in the 60-meter dash (6.91), while classmate Calvin Berstler took third in the high jump (6'3¼") and freshman Trevor Whiteside took the same placement in the 800-meter run (1:57.58).
The Falcons return home next weekend, when they host the Air Force Collegiate Open on Friday, Feb. 17.
