// Box Score in PDF United State Air Force Athletics CommunicationsFor Immediate Release: Feb. 15, 2017 Reno, Nev. - Despite a furious late-game rally, Air Force women's basketball dropped a 65-58 contest at Nevada (10-14, 4-9 MW) in Mountain West action Wednesday night at Lawlor Events Center. Junior Erika Chapman and freshman Kailin Davis led four Falcons in double-digits scoring, with 13 points each.Down by 21 early in the fourth quarter, Air Force mounted a rally to get within four points with under a minute to play. A pair of three-point baskets by freshmen Mariah Forde and Kailin Davis made it a 62-58 game with less than a minute to play. Nevada was able to seal the game with a layup and free throw by Halie Bergman with 25 seconds left for the final points of the game.Another sluggish third quarter had the Falcons having to scrape their way back into the game. Trailing by one at halftime, the Falcons allowed Nevada to out-score them 23-8 in the third, highlighted by a 13-0 run.A basket by Nevada to start the fourth pushed the deficit to 21 before Air Force began to storm back. A 6-0 and 11-0 run sandwiched around three Wolf Pack points pulled the Falcons to within seven at 57-50 at under five minutes to play. With less than two minutes to play, Forde and Davis hit the three's to make it a four point game with a minute to play.Chapman scored her 13 points in 28 minutes off the bench. The junior also had a career-high seven rebounds. Davis scored her 13 points along with two three's and five rebounds. Forde and junior Cortney Porter added 10 points. Porter added a career-high seven steals, which was one shy of the Air Force Div. I era record. She is also one steal shy of tying the Air Force Div. I era record for career steals. Sophomore Venessannah Itugbu added four points, three assists and seven rebounds."Venessannah Itugbu played a great game for us and set the tone defensively," Air Force head coach Chris Gobrecht said. "Erika Chapman also played well for us and continues to develop as a player we envisioned."Terae Briggs led Nevada with 15 points and adding eight rebounds. T Moe had nine points and 10 assists for the Wolf Pack."It's starting to become a hallmark, although a bad one, with our struggles in the third quarter," Gobrecht said. "I thought we didn't play all that well in the first half, but were down just one. We thoroughly out-played Nevada in the fourth quarter and I was encouraged by how hard we fought back. We just have to figure out how to get out of these long stretches in the second half that hurt us."Air Force returns to action Saturday, Feb. 18, hosting San Jose State. Tip-off, at Clune Arena, is 4 pm MT.
