Six Falcons to Participate at USNT Tryout

USAF ACADEMY, Colo. – Six members of the Air Force volleyball team have been selected to participate at the U.S. Women's National Team Open Tryouts, which will be held this weekend (March 3-5) at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs.
Air Force will be represented by sophomore Julia Boswell, junior Piper Heineck, sophomore Sarah Hellman, sophomore Abigail Miksch, sophomore Elizabeth Pennington and freshman Denise Ssozi. The Falcons are some of the 244 athletes from 81 colleges and 10 high schools that are participating at the national team tryouts.
"The National Team tryouts are a great opportunity for our players to test their mettle," Air Force head coach Marc Swindle said. "They will be competing against some of the best college players in the country."
In addition to its players, Air Force will also be represented on the Tryout staff by Swindle and assistant coach Keith Barnett. Swindle will serve as a Lead Evaluator during the tryouts, which Barnett, who played on the U.S. Men's National Team from 2001-02 and 2005-06, will work as a court coach.
The tryouts, which will determine the rosters of the U.S. Women's National Team, the U.S. Collegiate National Team and U.S. Women's Junior National Team, will be managed by three-time Olympic gold medalist and U.S. Olympic Hall of Famer Karch Kiraly and members of the USNT staff.
USA Volleyball, which will use the hashtag #USAVTryout on its social media platforms over the weekend, will be live streaming the event, beginning at 2:00 p.m. (MT) on Friday, March 3.
