
Air Force Heads to 108th-Annual Drake Relays

Meet Notes 14: at Drake Relays, at Pre-Conference Invitational ![]()
The Air Force track and field team splits for a pair of meets this weekend. Select sprinters and distance runners travel to Des Moines, Iowa, for the 108th-annual Drake Relays on April 27-29, while other members of the squad head to Golden, Colo., for the Pre-Conference Invitational on April 30.
MEET INFORMATION
The prestigious Drake Relays, presented by HyVee, which officially kicked off last night with the Grand Blue Mile, will take place throughout the week at Drake Stadium in Des Moines, Iowa. The meet, which is in its 108th year, will begin in earnest at 6:00 p.m., on Thursday, April 27. LAST TIME OUT AT THE DRAKE RELAYS
With a first-place finish in the distance medley relay (Matt Dorsey, Tyler Koss, Grant Caswell, Patrick Corona) and a third-place finish in the 4x800-meter relay (Caswell, Zac Petrie, Nic Cheuvront, Dorsey), the men earned their best placement in the HyVee Cup standings (fourth). Air Force also earned titles in the 4x200-meter relay (Zach Johnson, Gavin McHenry, Robbie Anderson, Jamiel Trimble) and pole vault (Dylan Bell).

Several Falcons will travel to Golden, Colo., for the Colorado School of Mines' Pre-Conference Invitational on Sunday, April 30. Action begins with the javelin throw at 11:00 a.m., and live results will be available through MinesAthletics.com/TrackLive.
TOMCZAK NAMED MOUNTAIN WEST ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
After crushing her own Academy record in the pole vault at the Michael Johnson Invitational, Kathryn Tomczak was named the Mountain West Women's Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week on April 25. Clearing 13'9¾", Tomczak improved her previous best mark by nearly six inches and tied for the second-best clearance of the 25-vaulter meet.
WHAT'S ON DECK
The Falcons close out the home portion of their season on Friday, May 5, when they host the Air Force Twilight Open at the Cadet Outdoor Track and Field Complex. Action is slated to begin at 1:30 p.m.
