
Air Force Falls at Fresno State, 64-48

FRESNO, Calif. - Air Force women's basketball dropped a 64-48 contest at Fresno State in Mountain West action Monday night at Save Mart Arena. The game was played as a makeup of the Jan. 20 game that was postponed due to the Government shutdown.
Fresno State took control of the game early, hitting its first three, three-point attempts to jump ahead 15-4 by the first media break. Air Force was down 22-12 after the first quarter.
The Falcons batted back to out-score the Bulldogs 12-9 in the second quarter to trail by seven at halftime, 31-24.
Fresno State came out hot to start the third quarter, however, opening with an 11-0 run to take a 42-24 lead. The Falcons found it an uphill battle the rest of the game.
Air Force continued to chip away and out-scored Fresno State 18-14 in the fourth quarter. The Falcons held the Bulldogs to just one field goal over the final six minutes of the game.
Senior Erika Chapman led the Falcons with a season-high 14 points, in addition to four rebounds, three coming on the offensive end. Freshman Kaelin Immel followed with 13 points.
Senior Cortney Porter scored nine points and led the team with four assists and three steals. Freshman Emily Conroe added seven points and a team-high seven rebounds.
Fresno State shot 52.3 percent from the field and 58.3 percent from three-point range. Aly Gamez led the Bulldogs with 15 points and seven steals. Maddi Utti added 11 points. Air Force did a good job defensively on Candice White, the Mountain West's leading scorer. White was held to nine points, eight below her 17.6 per game.
Air Force returns to action Saturday, Feb. 3, hosting San Diego State.
