
Falcons Conclude Action at Fresno State Invitational

Air Force placed fifth out of six teams
FRESNO, Calif. – The Air Force Academy women's swimming and diving team concluded action at the Fresno State Chick-fil-a Invitational, Saturday afternoon, Oct. 6, at the Fresno State Aquatics Center. After two days of competition, the Falcons finished fifth out of six teams with 367 points.
The nationally ranked California Golden Bears won the event with a team score of 1250 while Mountain West foes San Diego State and Fresno State took second and third with 963 and 487 points, respectively. The Pac-12's Washington State edged the Falcons in fourth with 380, while San Jose State finished sixth with 275.
Air Force had its best race of the day in the 1650 free, as the Falcons claimed four spots in the top 12. Senior Gaby Miller was the highest placer, taking seventh with an 18:01.96. Finishing right behind Miller were junior Kelsey Linzmeyer and senior Elisabeth Brechbuhl, taking eighth (18:05.99) and ninth (18:08.01), respectively. Finally, junior Jayden Glover finished in 12th place with an 18:30.57.
The Falcons had a solid day in the relays again, finishing with a pair of top 10's. In the first event of the day, the 400 medley relay, the squad of Kylie Stronko, Heidi Schellin, Esther Min, and Lydia Knutson placed ninth with a combined time of 3:57.89. In the final event of the day, the 400 free relay, Autumn Wolfgramm, Sadie Wilson, Lia Campbell, and Knutson finished in 10th with a 3:37.21.
There was another individual top 10 finish in the 200 back, as Stronko had her second of the weekend after taking 10th in the 200 back with a time of 2:07.09. The other point scorers in individual events were in the 200 fly, as Min placed 14th with a 2:09.16, and in the 200 breast, as Schellin and freshman Caroline Wittich scored with 12th and 16th place finishes, respectively.
Air Force is back in action next weekend, Oct. 12-13, when it heads to Texas for the Rice Invitational. The two-day event begins Friday at 1 p.m. MT.
