
Falcons Close Out Season with Three Matches in Five Days

Air Force will host Boise State (Nov. 15) and Utah State (Nov. 17), before traveling to Fresno State (Nov. 19).
The Air Force volleyball team closes out the 2018 campaign this week, with a busy five-day span that includes three matches in two states. The Falcons will host Boise State (Thursday, Nov. 15) and Utah State (Saturday, Nov. 17) at the Academy's Cadet East Gym, before closing out the season against Fresno State in California on Monday, Nov. 19.

SCOUTING THE OPPONENTS
Boise State (17-10, 9-7) and Utah State (5-22, 3-13) will face each other in Boise on Tuesday, before traveling to the Academy later in the week. The Broncos are coming off of a split homestand that included a sweep of Wyoming and a 1-3 loss to Colorado State, while the Aggies went 0-2 on the weekend with a pair of 0-3 home losses to Colorado State and Wyoming. Fresno State, which enters the final weekend with a 20-8 (12-3) record, will host San Jose State (on Thursday) and Nevada (on Saturday) before Monday's meeting with the Falcons.
LAST TIME OUT
Air Force went 0-2 during its first meetings with Utah State and Boise State in mid-October. The Falcons dropped a 26-24, 19-25, 23-25, 22-25 road decision to Utah State on Oct. 18, before falling in a 21-25, 25-22, 22-25, 25-16, 13-15 thriller at Boise State two days later. Senior Abigail Miksch registered a career-high 26 kills during the five setter in Idaho – a total that remains tied for the most in a conference match this season. Monday's contest will mark the only meeting of the season between the Falcons and Fresno State.

All three of the Falcons' victories over the Broncos, as well as one of the two wins over the Aggies, have come at the Academy, as they are 3-6 against Boise State and 1-3 against Utah State in Colorado. Air Force has one road victory over Fresno State – a 3-2 win last October – and holds a 1-6 lifetime mark against the Bulldogs in California.

Abigail Miksch and Elizabeth Pennington are ranked among the conference's top 10 in both kills (3.26 for Miksch, seventh; 3.11 for Pennington, ninth) and points (3.75 for Pennington, sixth; 3.63 for Miksch, ninth), while Pennington also holds top 10 mark in service aces (0.36, sixth). In addition, the team is ranked fifth in both aces (1.24) and digs (13.48), while Alex King is listed seventh in digs (3.21) and Cambria Galloway is ranked 10th in blocks (1.14).

Following Saturday's contest against Utah State, Air Force will honor its five seniors – Shanleigh Conlan, Lauren Heldt, Sarah Hellman, Abigail Miksch and Elizabeth Pennington.
